buffer size not compatible with file ->don't use -bibufsize
CUSTOMERS SHOULD NOT USE -bibufsize
-bibufsize is an undocumented and untested feature. It was in 6.3 as
an experiment and left in for benchmarks and performance evaluation.
The feature was successful at showing that larger BI writes are an
effective performance tweak. Thus, we have implemented a production
version of the feature in version 7 called -biblocksize.
After some experimentation, we found that in version 6.3 -bibufsize
did not work with multi-volume BI files and could cause database
corruption.
6.3E patches and 6.3F were modified to disable the use of -bibufsize
with multi-volume BI files. The following messages are displayed:
SRV 0: ** buffer size <n> bytes is not compatible with file <file>
SRV 0: ** BI buffer size set to default value: 1 block
-bibufsize is not supported for either single or multi-volume BI
files.
CUSTOMERS SHOULD NOT USE -bibufsize
