PUT SCREEN not recommend for version 7
PUT SCREEN AND VERSION 7
TTY MODE
In version 7, the entire user interface manager was rewritten.
Due to this rewrite, PUT SCREEN will not produce the desired
effects in some instances in version 7 TTY mode. For instance,
if you have overlapping borders on 2 frames and then a PUT SCREEN,
your screen may not look as it did in version 6. In version
7 TTY mode, many instances of a PUT SCREEN will work just fine.
In cases that do not produce the desired effects, Progress
recommends that you replace PUT SCREEN with DISPLAY and use the NO-BOX
and row and column options to simulate your PUT SCREEN. Many of the
existing issues with PUT SCREEN cannot be implemented in version 7.
GUI MODE
In version 7 GUI mode PUT SCREEN will not work. PUT SCREEN is not
portable to GUI. In version 7 GUI, Progress is interfacing with
windowing systems such as MS-WIndows and MOTIF and handling displays
at the screen level are NOT compatible with a GUI design. In GUI mode,
one must use the concept of Windows/Frames to display to the screen.
