Status: Verified
SYMPTOM(s):
Connecting to a database remotely
Unable to attach shared memory <shmname>, error 123. (1720)
The client .pf file does not contain -H -S
FACT(s) (Environment):
Using an icon to connect to a database that has the following target:
"C:\Program Files\Progress\bin\prowin32.exe" -pf c:\progress\wrk\sports2000.pf
-p wmain.w
All Supported Operating Systems
Progress/OpenEdge Product Family
CAUSE:
The database needs to be started with -H host name, and -S service or port number, for remote connections. Also, the client .pf file needs the -H and -S.
FIX:
Verify that the database has been started with proserve -H hostname -S service, and any other parameters you require. Add this -H hostname and -S service to the client .pf file. The error should not recur when clicking the icon.
