SYMPTOM(s):
Error 5 and 1053 when starting the AdminService from Services
Both the Local System account and an Administrator account fail
Error 5: Access is denied
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
The Everyone group has no rights on the Progress installation directory.
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows 2000
Progress 9.x
CAUSE:
These errors are due to permission problems. The exact cause has to be determined by the System Administrator.
FIX:
Give the Everyone group Full Control on the Progress installation directory.
