SYMPTOM(s):
System Error with errno = 9 on an NT system
SYSTEM ERROR: I/O error 9 in readit, ret -1, file 9, addr 0 (290)
bkwrite: write to disk failed errno 9. (3645)
SYSTEM ERROR: bkiowrite: Bad file descriptor was used during write, fd 592, len 8192, offset 25042944, file dbname.b3. (6086)
CAUSE:
Whatever is the Progress System Error, if you are running on NT4 and the Operating System returned errno 9 (associated to ERROR_INVALID_BLOCK, described as "The storage control block address is invalid.") then you have to suspect a hardware problem.
FIX:
If you are using RAID Write Cache, check if disabling it solves the problem.
See Solution 18401
As a faulty disk is most certainly the cause of the problem, change the disk.
