SYMPTOM(s):
Database was brought down with a kill command
Database lock file (dbname.lk) still exists
SYSTEM ERROR: Invalid shared memory segment identifier (1174)
Rebooting machine does not get rid of the 1174 error
Running proutil dbname -C dbipcs reveals no Progress database in Shared Memory
CAUSE:
Shared memory pointers still exist with in the .bi file.
FIX:
Truncate the .bi file. Then start the database is multi-user mode.
