The 64-bit version of HP-UX 11.0 supports both 32-bit and 64-bit applications. The primary benefits of 64-bit computing are greater scalability and faster performance compared to a 32-bit environment.
Not all applications require a 64-bit computing environment today, however, but as the need to handle large amounts of data increases, so too will the demand for 64-bit computing.
Since version 9.1B we have introduced a full 64-bit version of Progress to run on HP-UX 11i (media id 175). For the other previous releases the customers will be able to run the 32 bit products certified for HP-UX 11 on either 64-bit or 32-bit mode.
We do not certify anymore the Progress 9.1 32-bit products on the 64-bit mode of the Operating Systems as soon as we do provide a 64-bit version of Progress on that OS; no performance issue with the product 9.1 32-bit running on the OS 64-bit will then be investigated by Progress.
