8939:_progres: /sbin/loader fatal error cannot map libots.so
Notebook:
=========
What could cause error msg on run of compiled code on OSF/1.
8939:_progres: /sbin/loader fatal error cannot map libots.so
Customer must be running OSF/1 V2.0. In order to run Progress under
versions of OSF/1 before V3.0, you have to install the optional
OTABASE subset. For OSF/1 V2.x, try installing OTABASE104 from
the OS CDROM. For Progress 63C01 on OSF/1 V1.3, customer should
install the OTABASE100 subset from the OS CDROM. Higher versions
of OTABASE may also work, but have not been tested at Progress.
The background is that libots.so is a library of math and
utility routines that is implicitly linked to the Progress
executables. It is in an optional subset in OSF/1 versions
before V3.0, but starting with 3.0, libots.so is in the OSFBASE
(base operating system) subset, so optional subsets to run against
it is not required. Some optional subset(s) to probuild a Progress
executable on OSF/1 v3.0 may need to be installed.
V3.0.
Bottom line, the OTABASE subset must be installed (or upgrade
to OSF/1 V3.0). More specific instructions regarding this may be
obtained from the customers Digital Equipment Corp support contact.
