Do I always need to use a service port (-S parameter) when starting a database in multi-user mode?
GOAL:
When do I need to start the database with the -S?
FIX:
You need to issue the -S with the Proserve command only if you have users connecting to the database in client-server mode. If users only access the database directly (eg. telnet) the -S is not necessary.
