Problem with "no rewind" on many Unix tape drives
PROBLEM:
Many tape drives do not support the "no rewind" option that we tell
customers to use with the cpio command. These commands are listed for
various media types in the back section of the Installation Notes for
Unix.
SYMPTOMS:
You customer may report "I've run the command the book told me use but
nothing gets written from tape....". Or they may report a "NO REWIND
NOT SUPPORTED ON THIS DEVICE". It depends on the hardware.
SOLUTION/WORK-AROUND:
The work around is fairly obvious, just leave off the "no rewind" on
the end of the cpio command. The installation should proceed normally.
