NETBIOS not loaded: QA work-around program available
Subject: netbios
Recently, we have had complaints about PROGRESS 6.2H0x not recognizing
that NETBIOS is loaded. This happens with some NETBIOS implementation
We have a fix that can be given to our customers. This fix is to have
the customer load a small TSR (netfix.com) after all of the networking
code has been loaded. AQ has given netfix.com to Peter de Groot and
Jeff Owen. This TSR returns to PROGRESS or any other program that
makes the INT 2A call with subfunction 0, the correct response.
Netfix.com is a simple TSR and provides no capabilities to detect if
is has been loaded already, unload, detect if the networking code has
been installed, etc. It's only purpose is to provide the response
PROGRESS is looking for when it checks for the existance of NETBIOS.
QA wishes that complaints be handled on an individual basis, this fix will not be available for download.
29-OCT-98 - Update to above information
The file netfix.exe was included in the progress DLC directory under
the name IBMNT.EXE. Running this file will have the same results as
documented above. - gdg
5-JAN-2001 - Update to the above information
- Peter de Groot is no longer with the company
- V6 has been retired and patches are no longer available
