SOFTWARE NOTES:
o This release does not support sockets as most System V
and/or BSD ports do. It only supports TLI/STREAMS.
Therefore, you must specify the following arguments
when starting a remote server or a remote server:
To start a remote server (proserve):
proserve <dbname> -S <service-name> -H <host-name> -N TLI
-Nd /dev/tcp
The -Nd <network device> option can be ignored on the
Sequent since it is the default network device, unless an
alternate device is used.
To start a remote client (mpro):
mpro <dbname> -S <service-name> -H <host-name> -N TLI
-Nd /dev/tcp
o TOOLKIT
-------
In order to use the mkdump and procomp utilities, set
your DLCTK environment variable to point to the directory
where you installed the Developer's ToolKit. For
example:
DLCTK=/usr/dlctk;export DLCTK
In addition, you must modify the procomp script. Find the
line in the script that reads:
exec $DLCTK/procomp -1 "$@"
and change it to read:
exec $DLCTK/_procomp -1 "$@"
o Starting Server
---------------
When you start a server using TLI you will get a message
"Terminated.". This is OK. This is a TLI message that
we can not remove.
