920403-jom01
INTRODUCTION:
=============

This Technical Support KnowledgeBase entry
details the questions you'll asked be most often when
reporting a RESULTS issue to PSC Technical Support.

PROCEDURAL APPROACH:
====================

1. What is the exact error or problem?

2. Any error messages in the RESULTS query log (.lg) file?

3. What Version of PROGRESS are you running?
What is the version number in the RESULTS configuration (.qc)
file built during initial build.

4. What platform are you on?

5. If the operating system is Unix, what shell environment are you in
(Bourne, C, Korn). If the problem occurs in the C shell or
Korn shell, is it reproducible in the bourne shell?
What environment variables have you set?

6. What is your PROPATH environment variable set to? Where is DLCRES
in your propath? Generally speaking, your PROPATH should look
like the following: (UNIX example)

PROPATH=.:$DLCRES:$DLC:...

It is important that the quoter program is in your PROPATH.

7. For UNIX and VMS:
What permissions do you have on your working directory and/or
database directory?

Who is the owner of these directories?
Do you have any special groups set up for these directories?

8. Do you have data dictionary CAN-READ and CAN-WRITE permissions to
the files in the database?

9. Is the problem reproducible on other files in the database?
