Creating a release tape from porting directories on VMS
911206-elp02
Problem: on VMS, a bug is fixed in a higher version level than
what the customer has. No patch tape inventory for
that version exists in either Tech Support or Shipping.
(Verify via bug database or porting database or
port analyst that the bug has been fixed in a
given patch level).
Resolution: Need to create a tape with the correct release
of software on it for VMS.
Get a TK50 tape: See Kathy Ross; also check black file
cabinet in computer room.
Sign on to uvax-2. If you don't have a signon, see Carolyn
Pont in Tech Support or Operations group.
Once you are in, you will be running a command that creates
the correct files on the tape for release to your customer.
You will get the latest released patched software with the
selections below.
Set the default directory:
set def duc0:[rdl6.mfg]
Do a directory listing to see that the command file for
the tape creation process is there : mfgmenu.com
Insert the tape into the drive; there is a write-protect
cover that needs to be set so that the RED does not show
in order to write to the tape. Close the door cover, and
press the RED button.
To execute the command for tape creation type:
@mfgmenu
Select #3, Make TK-50 media.
Select #1, Testing media.
Select which license version you need (PADS, Query/Report, etc.).
The program should begin executing to copy the correct files
to the tape.
When it is done, press the red button again to get the tape
to rewind. Both the red and green buttons must be lit before
you remove the tape.
Label the tape and the box for the tape with the version
number and license type.
Forward the tape and the Media Replacement Request to
Sales Administration for shipping.
