patch/pre-releases available for Tower 650 Version 5
910430-SLK01There seems to be some confusion regarding patch releases for Tower 650
under Version 5. There was a 5.2J pre-release that was made for the
Tower 650 o/s 5.2 -- however, this product was compiled on a 68010
processor and will only work on 68010 machines (was done specifically
on the request of NCR). The only release currently available
for the Tower 650 68020 machines is 5.2D (the commercial release).
However, a patch request has been submitted for a 5.2J 68020-code
release to be made. The first one has not been officially requested
yet -- if a customer is willing to upgrade to o/s 5.3, we will put
in a patch rquest. The second request has been officially requested
and we are waiting for its completion.
First: 5.2J on o/s 5.3 (which can be done fairly quickly
because we still have the 5.3 o/s on the machine while
we are doing the 6.2G port) Could be expected within
a couple of weeks of request.
Second: 5.2J on o/s 5.2 (will be done when the 6.2G completes
and the 5.2 o/s has been re-installed on the machine).
Probably will not be ready until some time in June at
the earliest.
The 5.2J 68010-code pre-release SHOULD NOT BE USED to send to a
customer for any bug fixes it may have.
