problems running PROGRESS 5.2E AND 5.2I on HPUX 7.0

901023-SLK01There were two problems that we know were caused by running a version
of PROGRESS before 5.2J on the HP UX 7.0 operating system. They
were:

1. If you had a broker and at least one multi-user session started
and a power outage occurred, you could not get back into the
database - the master block was completely corrupted and
the customer had to restore from backup.

2. After logging in so many users, once another tried to log in (and
this number was random) they could not. Once this occurred,
system performance degraded significantly.

Both of these problems went away when we did the Progress 5.2J
port on the HP running HPUX 7.0 operating system. However, because
there is potential for more problems than what we knew about, it
is recommended that all customers running HPUX 7.0 use the 5.2J
port.
