Extended alphabet support: -xc not on BTOS or CTOS for V5

901009-slk02We found out in Version 5 that customers running on BTOS/CTOS
machines are unable to use the new Extended Alphabet Support.
This is due to the fact that Unisys uses a different collating
sequence than the IBM standard collation table that we use.
Not only do they use a different collation table, but they
also have a different collation table for each language;
therefore, an a-umlaut in German may not be the same value
as an a-umlaut in Norwegian. We believe that Version 6 will
solve this problem for these customers in one of two ways:
1. They can use IN/OUT entries and create standard
collation rules for all languages; or
2. They can use the new user-defined collation rules
feature coming soon and define their own tables.
At this point, they are targetting the first release of BTOS/CTOS
in Version 6 to be 6.2D (in order to accommodate the user-defined
collation rules feature). As new information becomes available
on this issue, we will let you know.
