How to see which version of AIX an RS/6000 is running

To find out the version of AIX that is running on an IBM
RS/6000 machine, type 'lslpp -h bos.obj' at the OS prompt.
Look for the line that is flagged 'ACTIVE'. This line
contains the O/S version (e.g. 03.01.0002.0015 ).
In newer releases of AIX (3.2.5 and higher), "oslevel" will also
display the operating system version. oslevel is a script which
resides in /usr/bin. Output for version 3.2.5 reports: <>3250
