INTRODUCTION:

This Technical Support Knowledgebase entry explains what to do if you
receive the VMS error "Insufficient Dynamic Memory" while installing
PROGRESS on a VMS-based system.

POSSIBLE CAUSE OF ERROR:

A VMS system parameter, most likely the number of control pages, global
pages or dynamic pages needs to be increased.

CORRECTIVE MEASURES:

There are three areas to check when you receive this error. They are
ordered below based in their likelihood of causing the problem.
1. Check the VMS parameter CTLPAGES ( Control Pages ). The system
default is 50. PROGRESS needs at least 120 control pages.
2. Check the VMS parameter GBLPAGES (Global Pages). PROGRESS
requires that at least 1670 global pages be specified.
3. Check the VMS parameter NPAGEDYN (Number of Dynamic Pages). If
you're sure that CTLPAGES and GBLPAGES are set high enough (as
required in steps one and two above), then increase NPAGEDYN.
