BTOS II Running on an XE 520. Request code install anomaly
900118-slk01BTOS II Running on an XE 520 (or just XE machine).
The normal installation procedures for installing Progress on an XE
machine was to use the XE Install command. This was when the customer
was running a version of MS8 of the operating system on the XE.
Customers can now upgrade their o/s from MS8 to BTOS II. If they want
to run Progress on BTOS II, they must re-install Progress. The
command to use when installing is: submit <return> submit file name:
[f0]<sys>SRPInstall.sub then press GO (of course, this assumes you
have volume 1 of the Progress floppies inserted in the drive).
The reason for this is that with MS8, we installed the Progress
request codes in a file called: Request.0.sys. BTOS II ignores this
file. Instead, it is looking for a file called: Request.sys.
The SRPInstall.sub will install Progress request codes in the correct
file (Request.sys).
