UNIX DISK Installs -- missing files -- THIS IS WHY!!!
920716-cmb01
Beginning with versions 6.2L, all UNIX diskette software will
now include a "-r" command with the "mnt" command for installing
the software. The "-r" indicates that the Operating system
will mount the diskette as READ-ONLY!!
This is to eliminate the problem we have seen in the past where
a customer removes the diskette before PROGRESS is finished with
it, OR if a customer has installation problems the diskette was
being erased.
Common errors we have seen because of the lack of the "-r" option
when they try the install a second time are:
"proinstall not found"
"bad floppy".
Customers trying to install on UNIX diskettes PRIOR to version
6.2L will not know about the "-r" option, and may end up erasing
files on their diskettes if they have problems the first time
installing. In this case, they may need to be sent new media.
If you do send new media, please mark the Reason Code Category
as MANUFACTURING (B).
