INTRODUCTION:
=============
This Product Services Technical Support Knowledgebase entry
describes errors generated if a user has a fixed .bi extent and
fills up the extent.
PROGRESS ERROR NUMBER: PROGRESS ERROR TEXT:
====================== ====================
854 Insufficient disk space to extend
the .bi file.
POSSIBLE CAUSE OF ERROR:
========================
The error message (and its resolution) are misleading in
the case of a fixed .bi extent. The text for the error reads:
Progress ran out of disk space while trying to expand the
.bi file. Free up some disk space and then restart Progress
to perform crash recovery.
The cause is not that it has run out of disk space, but rather
that the .bi file is full.
DOES ERROR INDICATE CORRUPTION: IF SO, WHAT TYPE:
=============================== =================
No.
CORRECTIVE MEASURES:
===================
Cleaning up disk space will not correct the problem.
You will have to add another .bi extent (which is not
sensitive to the 854 error) with prostrct add. Then you
should be able to restart Progress to perform crash
recovery.
