FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows 32 Intel
Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000
Progress 9.x
SYMPTOM(s):
CAUTION: The Installation Utility has detected that you will modify a previous version. Check the installation notes for release compatibility.
Do you want to continue?
Trying to install an additional license to an already existing installation of Progress by initiating a new installation of Progress.
CAUSE:
If Progress is already installed in the same directory to which you are trying to install, trying to perform a new installation of the same software will cause the above message to be displayed.
FIX:
To add the new license, the new installation will override the previous installation. Therefore, both the old licenses as well as the new ones will need to be typed in when performing the new installation.
If you have defined databases, AppServers, etc. in Progress Explorer - Make sure that you back up the .properties files in the %DLC%\properties directory as these will be overridden when performing the new installation.
