Ways to address email correspondence to assure delivery
920127-elp01
The email configuration file (sendmail.cf) was changed
to allow the proper address resolution of not only
Progress email locations but those external to
the company as well. Many of you may have noticed
mail not being delivered when addresses were of a more
complex structure than just user or user@misseq.
The configuration now fully allows complex internal
and external addresses to be used.
The following examples show addresses that can now
be used to send and receive mail both within and outside of
Progress on the MIS Sequent system.
You may now receive mail on the system when addressed
in the following formats:
user@misseq
user@misseq.progress.com
user@progress.com
misseq!user
misseq.progress.com!user
misseq.com!user
You may send mail from the system with the following formats:
Within Progress:
user
user@system
user@system.progress.com
user@progress.com
system!user
system.progress.com!user
progress.com!user
Outside Progress:
user@company.com
user@system.company.com
user@school.edu
user@system.school.edu
mit-eddie!company.com!user
company.com!user
Note: These addresses are subject to addressing rules dictated
by the individual company or school.
For those of you who have been sending mail to other
institutions from misseq using another system to allow
address resolution (user@company.com@progress)
need not do this any longer.
Feel free to call me at ext. 565 or email me if you have
any problems, concerns, or questions. Thanks, Kyle Tucker
