GOAL:
Should AI files be maintained on a separate server from the other database files?
FIX:
Progress recommends storing AI areas on separate disks. Whether these areas reside on another server or not is up to the individual administrator.
One option is to have the AI extents on the same machine but a separate disk. This would be in conjunction with a script which archives the AI extents to a separate machine every time one is filled. That way, if the machine fails, the AI file data is still available apart from the busy extent.
