Solution ID: P3940
FACT(s) (Environment):
Actuate
SYMPTOM(s):
Microsoft Outlook
When receiving an e-mail notification from the Actuate Report Server through Outlook 2000 the URL is wrapped
There is a line break of the report link URL within the e-mail on Outlook
Choosing "unwrap text" doesn't help
The problem does not appear with Netscape's Messenger
CAUSE:
Actuate is just outputting text into the e-mail message, the e-mail client is recognizing it as a hyperlink (because of the http:// prefix) and showing underlined text. Outlook is the responsible to "mount" the e-mail notification with the information provided.
The issue can be reproduced as easily as typing manually a very long URL on
the e-mail body and sending it on PLAIN TEXT format.
FIX:
Use any of these workarounds to avoid the Microsoft bug:
A) switch to an e-mail server other than Outlook
B) send the Actuate e-mail messages in HTML format
C) send a shorter URL. To modify the URL follow the next steps:
1) Run Actuate Administrator Desktop
2) Log in as Administrator
3) Go to properties of the root volume
4) Change the property of ReportCast URL prefix
