Kbase 13388: Does SNA or LFP support Windows For Workgroups (WFWG)?

SUMMARY:

Subject: Windows for Workgroups

Windows for Workgroups (WfWG) has not been tested with Lan Fast Path
(LFP) for PROGRESS/400 Client/Server. SNA should work fine, provided
that SNA connectivity has been previously established using a compatible
SNA router software package (PC Support, Netsoft, Rumba APPC, Netware
SAA).

The problem with WfWG lies with the Network Interface Card (NIC)
drivers and how they are addressed by WfWG. LFP needs access to
the NIC driver, and also a real-mode memory TSR (LFPWIN). WfWG,
under its default or a network-coexist configuration (i.e., Netware)
does not provide the appropriate NIC driver interface that LFP
requires.

Until the AS/400 Development group can obtain and install a copy of
WFWG, no determination can be made as to LFP functionality within
this environment; this is currently being addressed and an answer will
be forthcoming soon.

Until we know what it is we're dealing with, we need to set customer's
expectations appropriately when WfWG is involved.
