Many known bugs with 7.2 BROWSE widget
IMPORTANT: When users call to report problems with the Version 7.2
browser, there is a very good chance that what they are experiencing
is a known problem that is fixed in the 7.3 browser. If at all
possible, PLEASE TRY TO CLOSE THE CALL by reassuring them that the
7.3 browser is a complete overhaul that will address all aspects of
browser performance and functionality. If they are seeking advice on
how to do event programming on the browser, then this is the wrong
place to be looking; this notebook entry applies only to *problems*
with the browser due to bugs.
There are several known issues with the 7.2 browser, including but not
limited to the following:
(1) The scrollbar "thumb" can get confused when scrolling the browse
up and down. Video can become scrambled.
(2) The order of records within the viewport can become erratic
during or after a scroll within the browse.
(3) The scrollbar can become messed up in general.
(4) On certain platforms, an "empty" browse has been known to cause
focus to disappear. The user can still TAB through the
interface, but all visible cues are lost regarding which widget
has focus.
The 7.3 browse widget will address all of these issues, as well as add
new features and functionality. There will be new attributes and
methods, as well as multiple selection capability. Users should "stay
tuned" for official release announcements, as complete specifications
can not be offered prior to commercial availability.
