Solution ID: P594
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows 98
SYMPTOM(s):
Error starting localserver on Windows 98.
Error reading socket=<n> ret=<n> errno=<n>. (795)
error reading socket = 220 ret -1 errno 10055 (795)
CAUSE:
This is a Win32 TCP network issue that could be addressed by making some changes to the Windows Registry.
FIX:
Progress strongly recommends that the Registry be backed up before any changes are made.
Locate the following branch:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\MSTCP
Follow these steps:
1) Create a new String-value named "MaxConnections" (if it
doesn't already exist).
2) Modify its value to be greater than 100 (for example, 256).
Restart the machine so the changes can take effect.
