FACT(s) (Environment):
ProControl
SYMPTOM(s):
Errors when starting a Progress database
Invalid physical database name (5274)
FIX:
When seeing this error, make sure that both the working directory and physical database names are valid; and your database can start from the command line using "_mprosrv DBName", then try reviewing the following things:
Use the following steps to resolve this problem:
1. The physical database name MUST be supplied.
2. The specific working directory MUST be supplied. (that is, the directory where your database presently resides.)
Alternatives:
1. If NONE of the examples above assist in resolving the problem, try moving the database to a new location and create a new entry within the ProControl "Service Details" window for the database. (This suggestion may ONLY work for a single-volume database.)
2. Change ProControl to run under one of your existing user accounts instead of the System Account. Please be aware, there are a few considerations that should be taken into account before doing this.
