Create patch disk on 3.5" from 5.25" for unix (5.2i24)
911206-elp01
Problem: Have 5.25" disk with 4GL/RDBMS of 5.2i24,
need 3.5" disk with QUERY/REPORT of 5.2i24
for XENIX 386.
Resolution:
Get 5.25" disk (Xenix 386 5.2I24 1 of 1)
from Tech Support inventory.
Get 3.5" blank disk from anywhere.
Log on to sco386x in computer room.
Format the 3.5" disk: format /dev/rfd1135ds18
Make a temporary directory on the hard disk. mkdir temp
and change to it. You will need to copy all the files from
the 4GL/RDBMS disk to the temp directory, delete the _progres
file, and copy the remaining files to the 3.5" disk. The
-Mxs patch applies to the server and proshut executables
only; the _progres in version 5 was unique by license (not
controlled by configuration file), so to limit the customer
to the existing license capability, the client module
(_progres) needs to be held back from release.
Put both disks into the respective drives.
Copy files from the 5.25" to the temp directory.
tar xvf /dev/fd096ds15
x is used when extracting; c is used when creating (copying
files TO the disk).
What files go on the 3.5" are the new version file (indicating
V5.2I24), the new server module, and the new proshut module.
When that is finished, write up a label (by hand is OK) of:
XENIX 386 5.2I24
VOL 1 OF 1
tar xvf /dev/fd0
QUERY/REPORT
and send to Sales Administration.
