SUMMARY:
This Knowledge Base Solution applies to the 64-bit port of Progress SQL-92 in Versions 9.1A, 9.1B, 9.1C and 9.1D. 64-bit applications on 64-bit Operating Systems cannot connect a Progress SQL-92 server through JDBC or ODBC.
EXPLANATION:
To establish this type of connection you need either a 64-bit ODBC or JDBC driver, 64-bit drivers are not available for the releases listed above. You can still access the 64-bit database using a 32-bit client with the current ODBC or JDBC drivers, this is because the connection is done in client server.
SOLUTION:
Customers planning to use (or using) applications on 64-bit Operating Systems where the Progress 32-bit JDBC and/or 32-bit ODBC drivers for SQL-92 are available, need to ensure that they will be (or are) using a 32-bit application.
Please contact your local Progress office or Progress Technical Support in the following cases:
-- If your application is not available as a 32-bit flavor on your
Operating System (and therefore you require 64-bit SQL-92 drivers)
-- If you are looking for more information on the possible
availability of 64-bit drivers.
This will help us assess the need for 64-bit drivers.
