SUMMARY:

This Solution answers the question; is it safe to write to a 9.1x database metaschema (hidden) table?

EXPLANATION:

In general, database metaschema tables should never be written to because Progress cannot guarantee the compatibility of the contents of these metaschema tables from one major release of Progress to another. However, the _User-Misc field is the one exception.

SOLUTION:

Progress added the _User-Misc field to the metaschema tables expressly so that customers could store their own information if they wished to. Thus, if you must write to a metaschema table, you should only use the _User-Misc field within each of the metaschema tables.
