S/E 733 Windows for Workgroups to NLM, using SPX; unstable

Description: 733 connecting with Windows for Workgroups
================================================================================

** Server <servername> unavailable (733) - Windows for Workgroups

If this error occurs on an SPX network using Windows For
Workgroups 3.11, check to see in the network setup screen which
protocols are installed. Do not use the 'IPX/SPX Compatible
Transport driver with Netbios', as this is not a complete SPX
implementation. Even if a connection is obtained, you will have
very inconsistant results when using the IPX/SPX Compatible Transport
driver. In order for SPX to work properly, you must use the
'IPX Support driver(Monolithic) with Netbios transport'.

To do this follow these instructions:

1) You must use Novell's ODI drivers: (lsl, MLID driver, ipxodi).

2) Configure Window For Workgroups Network drivers for ODI/NDIS3.

3) After this is configured and working, go back to network setup and
remove the protocol 'IPX/SPX Compatible Transport Driver with Netbios'

4) Then add the Adapter 'IPX Support Driver(Monolithic) with Netbios
transport'. This will make the necessary changes to the protocol.ini
file.
Ignore the messages about using the incorrect protocol drivers.

You should now be able to connect to a SPX database.
