Bad Magic Number when Installing Progress Tapes
When installing a Progress tape and the error 'Bad Magic Number'
appears at the initial cpio command, it could mean that there is an
attempt to install the wrong binaries on your system, or it could
mean that the tape is bad. The magic number is a checksum at the
beginning of the tape and if this number is bad it could mean that
the tape header is corrupted.
If the binaries you are installing appear to match the OS on your
system, then you may have a bad tape and may need a replacement.
This error can also occur if the customer is attempting to install on
an NFS mounted device and the systems are not binary compatable.
