SUMMARY:

When using the MERANT 3.7 ODBC driver (SQL-89) with a third-party application such as Access, the following error may result:

"[MERANT][ODBC Progress driver]You are not licensed to use this
MERANT ODBC driver under the license you have purchased. If you
wish to purchase a license for use with this application, then you
may use this driver for a period of 30 days, during which time you
are required to obtain this license..."

Uninstalling and reinstalling the ODBC driver does not resolve the error message.

EXPLANATION:

This is an issue with the configuration of the MERANT ODBC license file ivodbc.lic.

Make sure to provide your Progress Serial Number for the ODBC Product as well as the DataDirect (formerly MERANT) serial number and
IPE Key #.
