SUMMARY:
When trying to convert a Version 8 database using the Progress 9.1C conv89 utility on Sun Solaris Sparc 7, you might encounter the following errors:
ld.so.1:mkschema:fatal:relocation error:file mkschema:symbol _1cDstdJbad_a
llocG_vtb1_:referenced symbol not found
conversion:mkschema failure, error code=9.\n (7298)
Even with the correct JDK and environment settings, the error still persists.
EXPLANATION:
The Progress conversion utility conv89 requires 2 OS patches for Solaris 7, 106950 and 106327, to complete successfully. In one test on several machines, the output of a uname -a showed that Solaris 7 with a kernel release number less than Generic_106541-06 would cause the conv89 utility to fail.
SOLUTION:
Apply Solaris patches 106950 and 106327 to the OS.
