SUMMARY:
After an incremental definition (delta.df) file has been applied to a database, the changes might not be committed even after you select "Apply Changes". No errors are presented; instead the message "field successfully added" is displayed.
EXPLANATION:
This behavior has been documented on Progress Version 8.3D where a data bulkload had just been done without the mandatory "idxbuild" run afterwards. This might also apply to other versions.
SOLUTION:
The solution is to run "proutil <db> -C idxbuild"
