SUMMARY:
As Progress evolves with new releases, you can migrate your Results reports to the latest version by following the steps outlined here.
EXPLANATION:
In Results there are 3 main file types:
-- .QC7
A QC7 file contains all of the fast load information for
your database. Every time you start Results and there is no
available QC7 file for the database(s) you are currently connected
to, Progress generates a new one.
-- .QD7
The QD7 file (identified by Public or a user name) lists all the
available reports and the databases you need to connect to for
them. The naming convention follows this form:
query[2]= "" "test" "Sports2000"
The number within the brackets refers to the number of the QUE#####
report. The second field is the report's name. The final field is
the database your report is based on.
-- QUE### files
The QUE### files are the reports themselves. These contain the
query for the report.
SOLUTION:
Here is the path for migration.
1) Install your new Results Version.
2) Connect to the required database(s) via the Data Dictionary.
3) Start Results.
4) Results offers to build a fast load file; accept this.
5) Quit Results.
6) a) If you are migrating all of your reports, copy all of the
QUE##### files, along with the QD7 file, into your work directory.
b) If you are only migrating some reports, you only have to move
the appropriate QUE##### files to your work directory. Then you
can remove their references from your QD7 file.
7) Restart Results.
8) When you open a report for the first time it will state that the
CRC's do not match. Opening and saving the report will resolve
that.
If you follow the above steps and a report is not shown in the open screen, try one of the following options:
A) After clicking the open report button, click on the show queries
on disconnected databases. If they are shown here, you are not
connected to the required database for the report. If the
database name has changed, you must reflect this in the QUE#####
and QD7 files.
B) Open the QD7 file from the open report icon. Then attempt
option A.
C) Open the QD7 file from within Results.
