SUMMARY:
The Database start can hang after the initial message:
Begin Physical Redo Phase at <current address>. (5326)
OS tools report no CPU time for the process (_mproserv or _progres) and 50% I/O wait, 50% CPU idle.
EXPLANATION:
The problem might not be linked to the contents of the BI file but might in fact be due to a file access issue.
SOLUTION:
Try to make an OS-COPY of the BI file (one or more extents). If the OS-COPY does not succeed then you know for sure that the problem is not a Progress one but a hardware or Operating System one.
On an HP-UX 11 machine, restart the Auto-RAID system.
