SUMMARY:
When trying to install 9.1C on HP-UX 11, you might see this error returned:
/cdrom/proinst: /cdrom/_ovrly: Execute permission denied.
The installation terminated abnormally.
EXPLANATION:
The error can result from trying to install from the wrong media; for instance, the media id shows the cd is intended for a 64-bit HP-UX 11 OS, whereas the OS is actually 32-bit.
SOLUTION:
Check the OS using getconf KERNEL_BITS and ensure that you are installing with the correct media. Media ids are found on the serial number and control code "green papers" that come with the media, and should be compared with the ids detailed in the Platform and Product Availability Guide.
