Progress Position on OLTP and TP monitors
The primary Open Systems standard for TP monitoring is XA from X-Open.
The XA specificaton is the first in a series of specifications to
define standard protocols between TP monitors, resource managers
and clients.
Progress is planning to support TP monitor services that integrate
with the XA specification. This support is planned in the post
Progress Version 7 time frame, likely the second half of 1994.
Timing of support is dependent on availability of a TP monitor across
the majority of platforms supported by Progress, and the strict
compliance of the monitor to the XA standard.
Progress is exploring three possible levels of support regarding
TP monitors. The areas of Progress technology that could take
advantage of evolving TP monitor standards are:
* the Database Server,
* the Network TP Services,
* and the Front End Development Tools
