SUMMARY:
This Solution addresses a situation where running a report using the Report Engine produces no output in the rbrun.out file. The application is not hanging; the rbrun.out file is being created but it is completely empty. This gives the appearance that no data is being found so no report needs to be displayed. However, when you access the report directly in Report Builder, the report is displayed.
EXPLANATION:
One reason might be the use of calculated or aggregate fields which are no longer valid. These can be recognized by a "?" in front of them when viewed in the calculated field list. This is likely attributable to some database fields being changed or removed.
SOLUTION:
Remove the faulty calculated or aggregate fields or use the "Purge Calculations..." menu option under "Calculations" to remove any unused calculated or aggregate field.
