Status: Verified
SYMPTOM(s):
Unable to connect to the NameServer on the local machine
Can connect to the NameServer remotely
NameServer process starts, but will not register with adminserver
Error: Unable to connect to Progress AdminServer using rmi://localhost:20931/Chimera (8287)
Unable to find NS1 (8281)
Pinging localhost returns an address other than 127.0.0.1
CAUSE:
Within the Ubroker.properties file, the Progress NameServer (NS1) is, by default, being started on the localhost. A loopback address is expected. Problems arise when localhost is mapped to a non loopback address.
FIX:
Check the /etc/hosts file and make sure localhost is mapped to the proper loopback address.
