GOAL:
Does Progress Support Shared Memory Client Connections Between 32-bit and 64-bit
GOAL:
Can a 32-bit client establish a connection to a 64-bit database broker?
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
All Supported Operating Systems
FIX:
Shared memory connections are not supported in a mixed bit environment. If a 64-bit database server has been started, a 32-bit client cannot establish a connection through shared memory.
32-bit clients can connect to the 64-bit server using a client/server connection. The reverse is also true. If a 32-bit server has been started against the database, 64-bit client cannot connect using shared memory. The 64-bit client will have to connect using a client/server connection. Mixing of servers is also not supported. The database should only have 32-bit servers or 64-bit servers running, never some of each.
