Kbase 21590: SonicMQ: Installation Uses Wrong Directory

SUMMARY:

This Solution applies to all versions of SonicMQ.

When installing SonicMQ on a machine on which you have performed many
installations using the same home directory, InstallShield may attempt
to overwrite an existing installation in a directory other than the
directory you specified.

EXPLANATION:

On most platforms, InstallShield maintains an installation history
file (vpd.properties) in the user's home directory. If you perform
many installations using the same home directory, such as a shared
slice for the user's home directory on UNIX, InstallShield can misread
the target installation location and install in another directory
over an existing installation.

SOLUTION:

If you are performing an installation and see the message "<path/file>
exists on this system and is newer than the file being installed. Do
you want to replace this file?" where <path/file> contains a directory
path other than the one you entered, select "No to all" and cancel out
of the installation, remove the vpd.properties file, and begin
installation again.

NOTE: Removing the vpd.properties file will cause uninstall to fail.
