FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress 9.1C

FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress/400 DataServer

FACT(s) (Environment):

OS/400 V4R4M0

SYMPTOM(s):

Progress/400 DataServer installation process on the system terminates while restoring PROSPORT library.

The LODRUN process is aborted and not all files are properly restored.

The error message in the joblog (CPF3821) indicates that three receivers: PRODBA4002, PRODBA5002 and PRODBA6002, were saved on a more recent release of the operating system and the conversion needed is not possible.

CAUSE:

This issues occurs when the software being installed (Progress/400 DataServer 9.1C) does not comply with the operating system requirement's PTF level. All software and hardware requirements for Progress/400 DataServer 9.1C is described in Release Notes.

The issue is caused by the fact that IBM has implemented some major changes to the way journal receivers are created on V4R5 OS/400, the system where installation objects were saved.

FIX:

This fix is part of the cumulative PTF that is required by Progress/400 DataServer 9.1C, TL01072. Install the cumulative PTF (TL01072) for OS/400 V4R4M0.
However it is sufficient to apply MF24269 to get rid of journal receivers' problems. Sometimes it takes a while before ordered cumulative package arrives.
