GOAL:
What is, CPW, Commercial Processing Workload?
FIX:
The CPW is a Commercial Processing Workload used to measure AS/400 performance. The utility is estimated based on specific set of database application tests. According to IBM's terminology, CPW may refer to different "features"; processor, batch, interactive, client/server.
In the Progress Release Notes, the CPW indicates minimum values for batch jobs.
All DataServer's jobs for brokers, servers, or AppServer are considered batch jobs by the system (they're simply submitted). On the other hand they should be treated as client/server processes as far as run priority is concerned. They are servicing an interactive user at the other end. In a commercial environment batch workloads tend to be I/O intensive rather than CPU intensive and we give them more CPU access by increasing priority.
