SYMPTOM(s):
Error when using SQL*Net or Net8 to connect to ORACLE from Progress Version 8.x executable on UNIX
This module can access ORACLE only through the PROGRESS network. (1894)
CAUSE:
The standard Progress executable does not contain "ORACLE library". This prevents the client from using ORACLE networking. It only recognizes Progress networking.
FIX:
Use probuild to build a Progress CLIENT which includes the ORACLE DataServer component
