FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.x
Progress 7.x
SYMPTOM(s):
Error when converting a Database from Version 7 to Version 9 using 83dbutils.
** Could not recognize argument: <string>. (301)
Errors:
"Could not recognize argument: -numsep (301)" or
"Could not recognize argument: -numdec (301)"
CAUSE:
In the startup.pf file under Version 7, the -numdec Fractional Separator and -numsep Thousands Separator are not valid startup parameters.
FIX:
When converting a Database from Version 7 to 8 using the 83dbutils under a Version 9 installation, the startup parameters -numdec and -numsep may have to be commented out in the Version 9 Startup.pf file to avoid this error.
